Today I want to start a series on viral marketing. I want to take a series of successful viral marketing campaigns and explore WHY they went viral and most imporantly, show you how you can emulate and even surpass their success.
I truly believe that viral marketing is not a mysterious black art, and it IS VERY possible to engineer your own. This year alone, I’ve engineered many successful viral marketing campaigns. Some so viral, that I couldn’t stop them if I tried.
Let’s start by defining Viral Marketing as marketing with the ability and propensity to propagate itself. When aligned with the “network effect” of the internet, using this technology can easily enable a message to quickly get spread everywhere.
Today we’ll dive into the currently successful campaign: http://www.herebeforeoprah.com. Recently Oprah started a twitter account and since then everyone is talking about it. So the creator of this site, successfully tapped into that buzz and benefited from it.
Here are the lessons you can learn from this for making YOUR marketing campaigns viral:
- Curiosity – create a strong desire to click in order to see what’s on the other side
- Trending – Everyone was ALREADY talking about Oprah before this campaign, herebeforeoprah.com borrows the buzz and taps into that
- Always include the ability for people to spread your message. This is a must, otherwise it’s not a viral marketing campaign
- Keep it Stupid Simple (K.I.S.S) – people’s attention span is limited
- Keep the costs to spread your campaign low (less than free is ideal…meaning, try giving something away)
If you have any questions about this, drop me a comment below, send me an email at ask@kylegraham.tv, or send me a twitter message. Until next time!

Even if you’re a total beginner, in just 3 days, I’ll show you EXACTLY how to make $100 - $200/Day, in the comfort of your home, absolutely FREE!
