PC's are a lot bettern than MAC for a number of reasons:

1. Customization. Now Im not talking about branded computers like DELL or HP where overclocking is not allowed but what I would like to mention is custom-built computers. You can do almost anything out of these fellas. Custom-Built computers can be tailored to suit the needs of every user, from office and home consumers to multi-media and hard-core gamers. You get what you pay for.

2. Parts. Try breaking a MAC and you'll end up shipping it for repairs. Imagine the trouble you'll end up if you are in a country without a local MAC Store/Shop. Oh did I mention you can't simply upgrade it? That's not the case with PC. Destroy the processor, smash the HDD and you're only worry would be partially emptying your wallet. There are so many parts and brands to choose from and finding a replacement is no problem. With a little knowledge about computer parts and you can even do the repairs yourself.

3. Games. For an avid gamer like me this is a big consideration for a computer. I both like surfing the internet and playing the latest games available. This would be a big issue for MAC. On a PC you can simply change/upgrade your graphics card esp. with the SLI & CrossFire configuration now available for some MotherBoards. For a MAC putting two or more graphics card is impossible. And the worst part is you can't do it yourself, you need to bring it to one of there stores. Also most companies create games based on a Windows platform which means there are limitless options to choose from.

4. Price. This is a big issue for me. For a middle-class consumer like myself Im a bit more consious on my spending so I would rather built my own system rather than purchase a branded computer with all it's parts and software exclusively available to them. For something like $ 1,500 I can built a system that would do most task that a MAC can't.

Hi Kyle,

This is quite an interesting post, I have never seen anyone boldly declaring that an Apple sucks this much! Actually, I was considering shelling out some £2,000 for an Apple laptop, but after reading all the comments and counter-comments, I am left a bit sore to shell out on a Mac now.

The interesting about it all is that you have been on both sides of the wall and know what you are talking about. However, I know a few folks who have used both types and sing differently.

My conclusion is that a Mac may be sweet to use (no doubt), but a PC is not far behind BUT you also get more flexibility on your machine without always buying overtly-expensive cables and sorts! If you treat your PC well by not putting crappy software in it, it will serve you well - that's a fact! I have been a Dell laptop user for the past 10 years and each of the times I have had an issue were due to crappy softwares (I have learnt my lesson though). For these reasons, I may never bother with having an Apple in my lifetime.

Thanks for this lovely insight, Kyle. You have now won another fan!

I do IT for many different companies. I am a apple convert. The main company I work for is almost all mac because it is a printing company. At first I was a hater against them. You know those stinking things are so complicated and frustrating.

But after working with them and another office that has many pc's the mac office has far fewer problems. I actually own over 4 macs. One being a mac book pro now. I love it. I have about 5pcs and one pc laptop. All comparable. The macs preform longer and have less issues.

As for someone's comment about Apple releasing an update to osx and it being 129 and Microsoft's update for XP being free, clearly has never looked at anything.

os X is the main revision as in the change from windows 9x to xp and above. they still run the same core now. Osx updates are new eversions the same way xp, vista, windows 2000 are all different. And from my experiences purchasing windows os's are terribly expensive.

And as for not being able to troubleshoot it, it has the most to do with learning the new environment. I only go to the apple store when I have hardware problems that I can not isolate. And although problems do exist with macs, they are generally far less catastrophic.

Have you ever taken a PC to a support place, they dont guarantee the data either, and they make it harder to backup than time machine in osx.

All in all, it has to do with adaptation, and understanding. I believe the Macs are a better value especially since the addition of intel, and I have had my Macbook pro for 4 years and use it every minute, even though I have a beastly PC and a G5.

I have a $600 HP laptop with a Pentium dual core and 4gigs of ram running Vista with no problems. I love it! I actually use it more than the desktop I built for $1,000 3 years ago. So yeah a $1,000 HP laptop would blow away a $1200 Macbook

I love that he compared he monitors I need to use that one on my Mac friends who try to say that the hardware is better and that is why they are so expensive.

Also every time Apple releases an update to OS X you have to pay $129. When Microsoft released an update for XP it was free. I have seen estimates of $700 total cost for OS X over time with all the updates!

Apple knows they have a cult following and they will pay the $129 every time and if they just change the name a bit the fan boys will not notice? lol

If Microsoft was charging for each update or service pack, the Apple loonies would go crazy with it!

All that being said the one area I am leaning towards Apple is the iphone. My Windows Mobile phone just has some annoyances I am kind of tired of.
